You cannot escape the material world
I am someone who used to do my very best to escape my reality. This was an unconscious behavior. In the “beginning” of my spiritual awakening, I utilized spiritual concepts in order to assist me with escaping. I was one of those “woke” people who said the government wasn't real, money wasn't real, the laws weren't real, and hell… the whole so-called reality wasn't real. I'm sure some of you have been there before (if you're still in that frame of mind, keep reading 😉).
If we want to go that route, we can say yes, reality is not real. Its only relatively real. That means its “realness” is contingent on where you are looking at it from and what you are comparing it to. The issue with having only this way of thinking, and not utilizing “and also” is that you start to deny the importance of interacting with the material world. You cannot fully embody the essence of the spiritual without immersing yourself in the material. I'm speaking on being “in the world, but not of the world."
Focusing only on the “reality is not real” narrative is one of the ways that so many “spiritualists" try to escape interacting with the material world. I was thinking today about the stereotype of the starving artist, and how so many creatives are out here repeating the cycle of avoiding learning to master the physical; but also thinking that they don't deserve!
A lesson that hit me like a ton a bricks, was that material world mastery was necessary in order for me to fulfill my spiritual calling. The first step that I had to take was addressing my scarcity mindset.
I pray this helps someone today!
